Frequently
Asked Questions

Do you sell to individuals? Are you open to the public?

No, we do not sell directly to individuals. However, you can easily find our products in most major stores in Quebec, Ontario, and the Maritimes.

Visit our Find a retailer page to locate points of sale based on the product category you are looking for.

What types of wood are in your firewood bags and cords?

Our firewood bags and cords contain maple, beech, and birch. We do not work with ash to avoid risks associated with the emerald ash borer, an invasive and harmful insect that threatens our forests.

Additionally, we hold the certification Approved Establishments under the Emerald Ash Borer Compliance Program, which allows us to transport our wood outside infected areas.

Can I light my pizza oven or charcoal BBQ with your fire starter?

Yes, our fire starter is perfect for lighting wood logs in your pizza oven or charcoal in your BBQ. Try it, and you'll love it!

What is the ideal time to plant in the spring?

The ideal time to plant in the spring in the Greater Montreal area is usually in May, after the National Patriots' Day weekend. In other regions, it is better to wait until the risk of frost is gone.

Before that, don't forget to protect your flowers by covering them at night with a blanket.

Why is it better to wear gloves while gardening?

Gloves protect your hands from cuts, scrapes, and stings caused by plants, branches, thorns, or even gardening tools. They also act as a barrier to prevent skin infections.

Do weeds come from the soil you sell?

Most weeds reproduce by seeds, which can remain dormant in the soil for a long time. They can come from several sources:

  • From the soil: Some seeds may come from the soil of the previous year and germinate when conditions (temperature and humidity) are favorable, like dandelions, whose seeds are light and easily carried by the wind.
  • From animals and birds: They can carry seeds all over your garden.
  • From roots: When part of the root is left in the soil after pulling, it can regrow and generate new plants.

Usually, weeds mainly come from external sources. It is therefore important to take preventive measures, such as adding mulch and regular weeding, to limit their appearance and spread.

Can I use an all-purpose potting soil to plant my seedlings?

Yes, you can use all-purpose potting soil to plant your seedlings, but it is not the optimal mix. Seedlings need light, well-aerated, and well-drained soil so that the small roots can form and develop properly without being smothered. Some soils may be too heavy and compact.

All-purpose potting soil contains a higher amount of nutrients because it is designed for established plants. Excessive nutrient levels can be harmful to young seedling roots and hinder their development. For planting your seedlings, we recommend Floral organic seedling potting soil. And above all, don't forget to use containers with holes for proper drainage.
